An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth…

When our children leave the path that we have set before them our heart breaks and we wonder where we went wrong.  When they are in sexual sin and they do not want us coming around them as our very existence condemns them. What do we do? We want to pull out the scripture and say, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” But that is not what Jesus came to preach. He preached in Matthew 5:38-39 to turn the other check to those who do evil toward us. Romans 12:20 says, “Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink: for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Matthew 5:46-48 “For if you love those who love you, what rewards have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? “And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Think about it.
